Adopting Zero Trust Episode Zero: Let's Start a Podcast
Neal and Elliot chat about kicking off AZT, plans for the future, and some not so hot takes on the current state of Zero Trust.
Elliot and Neal are excited to share Adopting Zero Trust (AZT) has officially launched!
This week Neal and I chat about our idea behind Adopting Zero Trust (AZT), why we are doing it, the types of people we will interview, and our goal. Don’t have time to watch/listen? The skinny is that we are on the same educational journey as most others are today regarding Zero Trust.
If you do a quick search, you are immediately slammed by the technology that may potentially help facilitate some components of Zero Trust. Still, today there is no master solution and certainly no silver bullet. Most important of all, Zero Trust is not technology or a tool. It’s a concept, a framework, or even a strategy.
Our Format
What can you expect for season one? Neal and I do very little chatting with our guests prior so that we can have more natural conversations and don’t have to pepper them with questions. Essentially we do a quick intro, hit record, and see where things go. Elliot does plenty of research prior to better understand each expert’s background so that we can hone in on different areas of Zero Trust.
Next week we are kicking things off with our wonderful guest from Australia, Andrew Abel, who will take us through some of the basics of Zero Trust and then dive into his experience with it. Then, every other week we’ll have a lineup of amazing guests. On off weeks, we’ll offer up neutral resources that will help get you started with Zero Trust.
Upcoming Guests
Andrew Abel (next week) [LinkedIn]
EUC Cyber Security Strategy and Architecture Lead, and a tried and true Zero Trust expert. He provides an absolutely wonderful primer on where to get started, benefits of Zero Trust, and a lot of wonderful resources.
Ryan Alford [LinkedIn]
Ryan is the founder and CEO at Engineering Design Group. We’ll be discussing how IoT and devices play a role in Zero Trust, and the importance of build trust and credibility through transparency. Devices are among the largest current gaps for the concept.
Nic Chaillan [LinkedIn] [YouTube Channel]
Nic is your resident DevSecOps, Zero Trust, and policy thought leader who just happens to have been the first U.S. Air Force and Space Force Chief Software Officer (CSO). We chatted policy, bringing Zero Trust to the federal space, the challenges that come from digital transformation (read: getting buyin is always difficult), and all of the amazing resources he offers on his site and show.
We are also scheduled to chat with Zero Trust Strategist Maureen Rosado, CyberSN CSO Dom Glavach, and waiting to confirm some other amazing guests.
We also wanted to give a huge thank you to our initial guests who gave us a shot even though we had zero episodes to show and just a simple pitch/vision. We truly appreciate the time and expertise you’ve shared, and can’t wait to share these conversations with the world.
Where to Watch and Listen
Currently we are producing AZT in both video and audio formats. For video, you can find the latest episodes on YouTube the same day as they go live on podcast channels.
Spotify (coming soon)
Feel free to subscribe to whichever, but during off weeks we’ll share the latest Zero Trust news, resources, jobs, and other tid bits right here on Substack. We have no plans to charge for subscriptions and do not plan on opening up for sponsorships this year (unless you’d like to bring a panel of former guests to your event).
We suppose you could always get an AZT mug if you wanted, we get a buck or two from it. We honestly just built that to send guests swag though.
